JOSH SMITH

Joshua is a multidisciplinary artist whose work draws on the vast, colourful landscapes that surround his current home in Cornwall. The coastline and its dramatic, expansive skies inform the pieces he creates in his home studio, as does the stark beauty of the rural Scottish fishing village where he grew up in a house looking out onto the North Sea.

His work is a considered balance of chance and direction. His meditative, intuitive practice and a playful interaction with the canvas bring together layered acrylic washes. This way of working, married with his colour palette, seeks to romanticise natural light, conveying a dreamlike sense of immersion.
